Amano Rehabilitation Hospital is located in Hiroshima Prefecture (county) in Japan and the CEO, Dr. Junko Amano led some of her staff as well as guests from a neighboring hospital to visit facilities in Vancouver, Toronto, Cleveland Ohio, and Akron Ohio.

The purpose of the tour was to better understand healthcare delivery in Canada and the United States. Specifically they wanted to learn about current best practices to serve the rehabilitation patient.
A brief one day stay (June 29) in Vancouver included a presentation about the Canadian healthcare system and the single payment method. This overview presentation and discussion helped the participants understand the environment in which healthcare is delivered.
In Toronto we looked forward to visiting two to three facilities all day on June 30 and the morning of July 1. Specifically we were interested in rehabilitation hospitals and clinics delivering all aspects of rehabilitation care. Speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc.
In Cleveland on July 2 we visited a rehabilitation hospital and a rehabilitation clinic.
On July 3 the team departed Cleveland and they arrived home the evening of July 4.
